How the car coat is conceived as fitting into the coat aisle here at the workshop is being long enough to keep off the rain, short enough not to get in the way, and sharp enough to be a bit smart if need ever be. It runs thusly to the thigh, and marries a large raincoat-style collar with the lapel of a more tailored coat.
Its functional conception, however, is not without quirk in execution. The sleeves join the body by way of a "split sleeve", marrying a formal set-in front and raglan back. The pockets, meanwhile, are large and are partially bellowed, and through trick of the eye sit atop even larger seam pockets.
