Flannel mill

This place is most famous for flannel. That’s flannel as in the twill, woven with carded yarn, and heavily milled on one side — and the fame comes about mostly because this is where it was invented. But you don’t get far these days by sticking to the tried and tested, and so meltons, worsteds, double-cloths, and much else besides come off these hallowed looms, too — all steered by a multi-volumed archive going back to the times of George III.
